Where’s The Cheese?
Why the difference an ingredients between:
The United States and Canada?
Believe me, I absolutely not a fan of Kraft’s so-called “Cheese” Product – Cheez Whiz! But at the least Kraft’s Canadian product actually has cheese listed in the first 2 ingredients!
Though the United States brand does have a bit of “cheese culture” added…it’s listed as nearly one of the last ingredients, with canola oil listed at the top of the list! So apparently, The United States version of this so-called “Cheese” product should be renamed to – Canola Oil Whiz!
And just to give it an extra boost of toxicity, included in list of ingredients is none-other-than “caramel” color. Yep, the same color additive that has recently got a lot of attention due to its carcinogen proprieties. Well, at least the FDA is constant in allowing known toxic chemicals in our food!
To avoid this chronic, FDA approved slow poisoning… it’s best to follow this simple tip:
Never buy a “cheese” product in a bottle, squeeze tube, or box! And always go organic!

Um, it literally lists “cheese culture” on the U.S. label. As far as I can tell, the ingredients are essentially the same, except the U.S. label is more specific. If anything, the Canadians are the one’s trying to deceive you by combining multiple ingredients into one vague ingredient.

You are so right, it does contain the bacterial culture needed to produce some types of cheese. Nonetheless, in this case, it is used for flavor. It isn’t a secret that once upon a time Cheez Whiz actually contained cheese, however that was changed some time ago. Michael Moss: The day they took the Cheese out of Cheez Whiz
Furthermore, the USA version also contains caramel color which was health concerns. This “ingredient” is unnecessary and is puzzling as to why it is added to so many products in the USA. I say, No Thanks!
That said if you enjoy eating Cheez Whiz then bon appetite! I’ll stick to good old fashioned real cheese!
