What “Real” Science hopes you never know!
“Until science can prove it”, it remains only anecdotal! And of course, anecdotal stories are just that —stories!
If I had a legitimate pet peeve (and I do!), it would have to be that phrase! I guess by using this kind of scientific thinking; nobody has ever been “in love”. After all, there is no proof of “love”. You certainly can’t reproduce it in a lab, making repeatable results of “being in love” impossible. And double-blind studies would certainly be impossible.
Compounding the “science of love” even more, what about that feeling of euphoria when one is in love? If love can’t be scientifically proven, then this feeling of euphoria (which physically boosts our immune system and promotes a more positive attitude) must only be the result of the “placebo effect”. And we all know how science views the placebo effect!
Placebo = All In Your Mind = Not Real = False = “Pseudoscience”!
So technically speaking being “in love” is purely anecdotal, and thus, not real.
What about the flip side of being in love? Everyone knows the feeling of a failed relationship: the struggle and stress. The negative effects can easily go beyond depression bringing about more serious health conditions such as cardiac issues, immune issues, and even cancer. If falling in love is nothing more than the placebo effect, then logic would also suggest that falling out of love is concurrent with the nocebo effect.
In both cases, however, how you “feel” is nothing more than “all in your mind”; per “real” science belief.
Okay, but what if we apply this same logic to something more “scientific”?
If major diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and autoimmune, are on the increase despite the use of pharmaceutical drugs, and if these drugs were only approved by the FDA after satisfying and passing the rules of the scientific method of evidence-based medicine, then what does this say about the scientific method? Especially when many of these drugs are later recalled due to serious health complications, including death. Not to mention the horrific side-effects, which are, of course, deemed acceptable by the FDA!
This brings up an interesting question.
On what basis was their so-called drug (s) “approved” in the first place? (Could you imagine the outrage if this was the standard for supplements?)
In medical science, using a double-blind study is standard when applying the scientific method to prove the effectiveness of a specific drug that is being tested. Simply, there are two control groups. One group receives the actual drug, while the other group receives a placebo; “fake” drug (usually a sugar pill). Neither the groups nor the doctor administrating the substances, know which group is receiving which substance. This is to ensure that the drug is more effective than the placebo at reducing whatever symptoms they were designed to reduce. Of course, all side effects are noted – from both groups.
So, how scientific are these “reported” positive side-effects? And furthermore, isn’t “reporting” negative side-effects such as a headache, joint pain, or stomach upset also really only anecdotal?
Sadly, the truth is, if a placebo proves to be more effective than the drug, the drug is deemed ineffective.
Could that sentence also be interpreted as the following:
The placebo (power of the mind) is more effective than the given drug, proving the drug is not necessary?!
If science doesn’t recognize the power of the placebo; thus, the power of the mind, doesn’t this technically make the scientific method itself pseudoscience?
Chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy, and others are routinely condemned by most medical doctors and armchair “scientific” skeptics. They love belittling the education of these professions, professing them as pseudosciences and that they offer nothing more than the placebo effect. Interesting.
In today’s world, we are inundated with negativity and fear. We are told “don’t do this”, “don’t do that”, “eat this”, “don’t eat that”, “this is bad”, “this is not”…” take this drug”, “not that supplement”…and on and on…
Instead of empowering you with the knowledge that you have the power to heal yourself (proven by their own research!). Instead, pharmaceutical companies silence this knowledge to further advance their “cause” –
The endless supply of drugs and the overwhelming wealth of profit. Bottom line, the one thing that medical science and affiliated pharmaceutical companies can’t control (though they are trying), is the power of the mind.
The more we learn about the power of the mind, the more we find that it far greater than we could have ever imagined! And luckily, people are now waking up to this reality, and are now starting to take control of their own lives – 100% naturally!
