For the most part, our society has some understanding of the importance of good nutrition. It is hard to ignore all of the attention given to the countless new diet fads, each claiming to be the best, and of course…each loaded with nutrients!
However, we also take the role of vitamins and minerals for granted and dismiss them as something we may “need” but aren’t overly concerned about since we believe that we are getting all of the vitamins and minerals we need from the foods we eat. This is especially true when we try to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and “fortified” foods and drinks such as milk, cereal and eggs (which can also contain omega 3).
