Is Our Collective Poor Health Caused By “Modern Humanity”?
In Today’s Society, Holistic Health Care Is A Must!
Holistic health care shouldn’t be feared, it should be an obvious choice…or at the very least…
…an individual CHOICE!
Almost everything in the body relies on some nutrient to maintain balance. For this reason, the repeated mantra of nutritionists revolves around the notion that by eating “well-balanced” meals we can be assured that we are getting a proper balance of nutrients. Well, on the surface this sounds logical, but unfortunately, in today’s world, this is not the reality.
Many have heard natural organic-minded people ranting about the extreme toxicity of our soil, water, and air, and whether you believe it or not, it is the undisputed truth.
For decade upon decade, we have proceeded to pollute just about everything!
- Oil, mercury and radiation in our oceans
- Pesticides and herbicides added to our crops
- Genetically modified and irradiated foods
- Unnatural foods fed to cows and chickens living in unnatural conditions
- Countless airborne chemicals
- Nutritional depleted fast and processed foods
- Never-ending assembly lines of prescription drugs
And on, and on, and on…
Additionally, we have seen an increase in the diagnoses of every major disease, along with new diagnoses such as Restless Leg Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (to name just a couple), and multiple pharmaceutical prescriptions being written by medical doctors as fast as you can say, “Got Drugs?”
And honestly, the bottom line is that these drugs really don’t cure anything, nor do they advertise that they actually can. What they do proclaim to do is “change” you. Make you feel more like “yourself”.
And how do they do this? They suppress the symptoms. But at the same time, they create new ones.
And so, in the end, all we are really doing is treating symptom on top of a symptom rather than looking for the root cause of our health woes.
Why aren’t we looking for the source of our many illnesses rather than simply easing symptoms for a short period of time? Especially now when there is a good deal of research showing that nutritional deficiencies are the cause of most diseases. Doesn’t it make sense that if we were to correct these imbalances the symptoms would subside…and for good? And doesn’t that equal a cure?
- What if your arthritis could be “cured” with something as simple as the trace mineral boron?
- What if Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) could be reversed with something as simple as correcting the copper and zinc balance in the body, which directly affects an enzyme called Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)?
- What if cancer could be stopped from growing, or even prevented, by supplementing with Vitamins B15 and B17, much like beriberi and rickets can be prevented by supplementing with Vitamins B1 and D, respectively?
All of this is not only possible but extremely probable. Of course, many conditions are a bit more complicated, but really not by much. The human body is so amazing, yet so intricate, and for the most part, we still have no idea how it works. Oh sure, we know more today than we ever have, but even with all of this knowledge we still do not know the root cause of nearly every disease known to man. Think I’m kidding? Just “google” any disease. Try Multiple Sclerosis (MS), ALS, heart disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), and even diabetes. And what do you find? “Cause unknown or idiopathic”! So we simply continue to treat the symptoms. And treating the symptoms has become big business! Because when you only treat symptoms, you often create new symptoms that then must be treated with other drugs.
What does nutrition have to do with all of this? Everything!
Our diets consist of “nature unintended” boxed noodles with dry processed cheese, processed meat from basically unknown sources, and all topped off with a dessert that never spoils (and I mean never!). So is it any wonder that constipation and diarrhea rank highest among all “non-serious” common disorders?
In fact, these two conditions accompany almost every disease known to man. That being said, doesn’t it make sense that repairing the digestive system should be the first step in correcting any disorder? But as it stands now, instead of fixing our GI problems we treat the symptoms. How many laxatives and anti-diarrhea medications are available over-the-counter? So many that they have their own section in grocery and drug stores. Got diarrhea? Take this pill and it will stop…Got constipation? Take this pill and you’ll go.
Never mind why you have diarrhea or constipation in the first place!
To quote Hippocrates (often referred to as the Father of Medicine), “Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity.”
But in today’s world, it seems that something is missing because humanity is clearly suffering!
Now someone reading this article might get the impression that I am anti-modern medicine, drugs, and surgeries. This, however, couldn’t be farther from the truth. Modern medicine has made some unbelievable advances that without question have improved the health of many people. However, it can’t be denied that our current healthcare system and conventional medicine has gone seriously astray.
Medical doctors study drugs and surgery, whereas the more holistic oriented doctors such as chiropractors, naturopaths, and doctors of Chinese medicine study the use of nutrition, supplements, and herbs. Medical doctors simply do not have an educational background in natural health care. Just as natural doctors do not have an educational background in drugs and surgery.
Maybe we would see some change in our healthcare system, and in the health of society as a whole, if both practices worked together—complemented each other. Thus the term “complementary medicine.” And if the health of the general public is truly the first and foremost concern of all doctors, as stated in the Hippocratic Oath, then wouldn’t the public’s interest best be served with real methods of prevention?
What do you think?
