Q: “I have metals and screws in my right ankle now but after that I was determined not to stay dormant because I was only 30 yrs old back then when it happened and the doctor said when I broke it, my bones were weak like 60 yr old..I know why my ankle was weak, I use to compete in sprints in high school and college with swollen ankle and did not much exercise..
Since then, I’ve decided even with the IT job I had, it will not stop me from making time to exercise daily..
Though since last year, after going to 5x a week of high impact classes with not so great shoe support, my knee has started to bother me.. I’m much better now since I started teaching my own class, but I notice that some students will either move with me or not or some requests me to do almost 70-80% high intensity throughout the class..
So, anything you can advice me and to the students on getting better strength and limiting or avoiding pain/injury would be helpful.. I used to go to chiropractors before, but it did nothing for my ankle.. After years of acupuncture and strength training my ankle is stronger but since I’ve started teaching zumba, the most rehab I do for mind and body is going to Yoga classes 1-2x a week.. I no longer go to other instructors Zumba classes as I sometimes teach 5-7 classes a week..”
