Society Has Deeper Issues Than Twinkie Job Loss Outrage!
Recent headline news read:

I fully understand the tragedy of any job loss, but I have to admit that I am on the side of those potential lives saved by non-food products such as (FDA approved) Twinkies being less available!
While people are now reported as “Stock-piling” on these “treats”… I wonder if they are even aware that they are mourning over a major cause of diseases such as heart disease, ADHD, obesity, diabetes, and cancer?
With so many people now concerned with health insurance changes under ObamaCare, few are putting an emphasis on how to prevent these illnesses in the first place!
The fact that so many people are outraged over the loss of this product and job loss with no concern over the harmful ingredient in a product such as Twinkies, tells me that there is a bigger problem in our society!
With products such as Twinkies that contain known causes of serious health conditions including ADHD and obesity, is it any wonder that the sale of ADHD drugs has exponentially increased in the last few decades compounded by record-breaking obesity rates?
It was once rare that children were diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, however, it has now become a common occurrence and increasing at alarming rates. Many of these children are now even prescribed high blood pressure medication and even more disturbing is the latest trend of children as young as 3 years old taking drugs such as Lipitor.
Is it any wonder that “ health” insurance is a hot topic? It seems people are expected to be sick and if you are “considered healthy”…to whose or what standards, the FDA’s?
My general definition of healthy is being vibrant, well-rested, fluid in motion, pain-free, and drug-free.
Yet, sadly I know too many people who will proclaim that they are “very” healthy, while they list the prescription drugs they take for their diagnosed health issues. Furthermore, most people feel (even in the holistic community) that it is normal that people will “need” some sort of drug as they age.
But how does this all tie in with the aforementioned Twinkie? Well, let’s just take a look at what people are so upset about losing. The following is the list of ingredients in the ol’ mighty Twinkie:
Enriched Bleached Wheat Flour [Flour, Reduced Iron, B Vitamins (Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Folic Acid)], Corn Syrup, Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Water, Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable and/or Animal Shortening (Soybean, Cottonseed and/or Canola Oil, Beef Fat), Whole Eggs, Dextrose. Contains 2% or Less of: Modified Corn Starch, Glucose, Leavenings (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda, Monocalcium Phosphate), Sweet Dairy Whey, Soy Protein Isolate, Calcium and Sodium Caseinate, Salt, Mono and Diglycerides, Polysorbate 60, Soy Lecithin, Soy Flour, Cornstarch, Cellulose Gum, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Sorbic Acid (to Retain Freshness), Yellow 5, Red 40.
(This looks strikingly similar to another “American Staple” – The newest “healthier” version of Campbell’s Soup (The REAL Cause of the “Disease Gene”)
In the above list of ingredients, you’ll find not one, not two, but FOUR different “sugars” and sweeteners:
- Corn Syrup
- Sugar (processed)
- High Fructose Corn Syrup
- Sweet Dairy Whey
Is just plain old fashioned sugar not enough? We have to make foods 1000x sweeter in order to ensure sugar addiction leading to obesity, ADHD, diabetes and heart disease? (What REALLY Is High Fructose Corn Syrup?)
This next ingredient has become hard to find in most foods (thank goodness) since it is a known cause of high cholesterol leading to heart disease;
- Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable (better known as TRANS FAT)
This next ingredient was a shock!
- Beef Fat
So besides adding to 300 calories of two Twinkies, you also get a nice added benefit of all the poisons in FDA approved conventional raised meat! Because guess where all those poisons are stored? In the Beef Fat! (US Beef Too Toxic to Eat? USDA & FDA Approved Beef Still Banned in Other Countries)
And if that weren’t enough, how about the known carcinogenic ingredients:
- Mono and Diglycerides
- Polysorbate 60
- Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate
It has long been known that these ingredients cause tumors and other forms of cancer, yet instead of removing these ingredients scientists instead poured millions of tax payer’s dollars into finding the lowest amount of these dangerous chemicals that can be tolerated by the human body so as to claim that these additives are safe for consumption. But why should this be a surprise? Science has also known the cancer effect of cigarettes due to the carcinogenic chemicals that are added, but could you imagine the controversy if the cigarette companies would close down?
Next on the ingredient list is a recent hot topic: GMO Foods and both the known and UNKNOWN health effects of consuming genetically modified foods.
- Modified Corn Starch
This next one is a favorite of mine…The SECRET ingredients:
- Natural and Artificial Flavors
Don’t you ever wonder what these “secret” ingredients really are? I don’t know about you, but I want to know what I am putting into my body and I want to decide for myself if it is a healthy or non-healthy choice.
It’s interesting to note that the precedence of not having to label every ingredient on products such as with “natural” or “artificial flavors” played a part in the recent controversy of whether GMO ingredients should be put on product labels. (Monsanto’s Mission To Pharmaceutically Enhance Foods)
If either of these two words is listed on any product, you should always be leery!
Real Food Never Contains Secret Ingredients!
And lastly, more additives that have been linked to hyperactivity in children (ADHD) and migraine headaches
- Yellow 5
- Red 40
It is important to note that food dyes are certainly not limited to products such as Twinkies, they are found in nearly every processed food on the market! (Food Dyes & Additives Proven Unsafe! ADHD Linked to Food Dyes)
I guess the old saying, “you are what you eat” is truer than ever!
Well, I for one am pleased that fewer Twinkies will be on the market and I long for the day that non-food items such as Twinkies will be nothing more than old folklore.
So regarding the 18, 500 now out of work, my heart is heavy for their job loss…but I have to be honest and say I hope this is the trend to come. I’ll take a heavy heart over a sick heart any day! After all, a job can be replaced…but without your health, you have nothing.
