The Medical Profession’s Love Affair with Pharmaceuticals!
Isn’t it time to break-up this TOXIC relationship?
Almost accepted as “normal” in modern times, in fact, the CDC reported the following in the NCHS Data Brief, September 2010:
“In 2007-2008, 1 out of every 5 children and 9 out of 10 older Americans reported using at least one prescription drug in the past month.”
Does anyone else see something terribly wrong with this?
Unfortunately, those who apparently find nothing wrong with it are (of course) pharmaceutical companies. With annual profits of over 400 billion as of 2008 and with some companies growing nearly double in 2010 (making record profits), why would they?
Medical doctors are certainly under the spell of all these drugs as well. After all, they are the ones awarded the power of the prescription pad! And using it they do! Not to mention that they have it so easy these days. I mean with all the drug commercials inundating the airwaves at alarming rates, if their goal is to scare the public to taking their drugs (or seduce them) … it’s working!
With new drugs to support new diseases (or is it the other way around?), and even more new drugs for old diseases combined with even more drugs for depression, anxiety, insomnia, leg pain, back pain, head pain, nerve pain, heartburn, heart issues, ADD/ADHD, restless legs, all kinds of phobias, etc…we also have the increase of deaths caused by the overdose of drugs!
Per The Betty Ford Center, just from 2005 to 2009, the increase of ER visits due to prescription drug overdoses doubled! And this did not include visits to the ER due to “adverse reactions” from legal prescription drug use.
And yet, the madness continues!
Being someone who suffered from insomnia and anxiety for many years (I won’t even mention the MS!), I understand the frustration, and desire, to take anything to stop the pain. However, with pharmaceuticals, the pain is not truly stopped, but it is merely an illusion. In fact, the drug is doing more harm than good – especially in the long run.
When you add in all the chemicals we are exposed to everyday, and the lack of nutrition because of it, it is amazing to me that the real causes aren’t being addressed. Only the medical continuation of masking the symptoms.
I truly hope, we as a society, wake-up from this toxic nightmare – before the damage exceeds the real and only cure – What our toxic human body is crying for…Nutrition!
