Apple Ginger Smoothie
“An After Dinner Smoothie”
This Smoothie is wonderful anytime, but is super awesome as an “After Dinner Smoothie”. Why? Because the ginger aids in digestion.
Since ancient times. ginger has not only been used to add a distinct flavor and aroma to culinary delights, but it was also praised for its medicinal properties. Ginger continues to be used by many to help ease or prevent vomiting, nausea, flatulence, motion sickness and morning sickness, and now modern science confirms that ginger can, in fact, help to calm gastrointestinal disturbances.
Recent research from the University of Michigan Medical School found that Ginger used as a supplement reduced inflammation markers in the colon within a month.
“After 28 days, the researchers measured standard levels of colon inflammation and found statistically significant reductions in most of these markers, and trends toward significant reductions in others.
Inflammation has been implicated in prior studies as a precursor to colon cancer, but another trial would be needed to see how ginger root affects that risk…”

Ingredients:
- ½ to 1-inch piece of ginger, thinly sliced
- 1 diced apple
- 1 large kale leaf
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup almond or coconut milk
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Options:
- 1 cup whole milk
Combine all ingredients in the blender and enjoy!
