Restore Balance to Your Body & Mind
By Guest Author, Kelsi
Ayurveda works closely with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to regulate the complex functions in the body at all levels including mind and spirit. The western world sees Ayurveda and CBD as a form of alternative medicine for some of the most persistent ailments of today including stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and weight gain.
Most people using this form of medicine are of the belief that ‘alternative’ treatments such as Ayurveda combine many of nature’s strongest ingredients to offer holistic therapy in a way that targets all aspects of one’s being, including mental and emotional states.
At least 40 million Americans use some form of alternative medicine and the most common types are energy therapy, acupuncture, herbal medicines, CBD, and of course, Ayurveda.
So what’s the practical reason for using non-mainstream methods of science to treat what ails you?
The Special Appeal of Ayurveda
Ayurveda originated in India thousands of years ago, and it is one of the oldest medicines in the world. Classical Indian texts suggest that knowledge was handed down from the gods about the healing nature of herbs, a balanced diet, and other practices. Other cultures in Asia also believed that perfect health relied on an intricate balance between mind, body, and spirit, and everyone needed to adopt practices that promote this balance.
The Balance of Thoughts & Emotions
Ayurveda teaches that peace cannot be attained unless one learns to align their words, thoughts, and actions on a pattern of health and longevity, and in the long term, this will lead to a balanced life complete with robust health.
Other texts have talked about perfect health as a state of mental and physical balance that comes out of living healthy and learning to maintain a positive state of mind.
Under the Ayurvedic teaching, when your whole being (mind, body, sprit) is in harmony with the universe, you automatically have good health. Bad health is said to follow those who are out of alignment, or unbalanced, as this is believed to cause disruptions and blockages in the subtle energies that run our bodies.
There are some things can disrupt the balance in our bodies, such as:
- Emotional trauma
- Seasonal change
How Can You Harness the Power of Ayurveda?
Every person has their own unique ‘blueprint’ for attaining perfect health. No two people will have the exact same health needs, and so what may work for one person may not be the best treatment for another. When it comes to practicing Ayurveda, whatever process you go through will be tailored to you as an individual to help you attain higher levels of awareness, peace, and stability. Here are the main aspects of modern Ayurveda:
- Sattvic diet
- Good hygiene
- Attaining optimal digestion & excretion
- Following natural cycles such as sleeping, waking, eating, working, etc.
Without getting into the technical stuff, every person has their own unique “pattern” that they exist as, and every person requires a special combination of natural elements to restore balance within. The reason we mention this is because it is only one system in the body that creates balances within, and that’s the Endocannabinoid System.
Ayurveda & CBD
Ayurveda works through the ECS to restore that balance, and so does cannabidiol, or CBD. Keep in mind that your body produces cannabinoids on its own; the same cannabinoids work with brain receptors to send all sorts of signals throughout the body, and to help you adjust to your environment.
Ayurveda and CBD work to restore balance to the body and mind through the ECS by supplying plant cannabinoids to the ECS to strengthen a weakened system. By combining the healing power of Ayurveda and CBD, you can strengthen your body in ways that no other medication can do for you.
Ayurvedic perspective encourages one to establish a balance that promotes health and wellness, and adding CBD only leads you to higher states of energy, awareness, and improved cognitive function. The risk of disease is reduced significantly by the strengthening of the immune system, and hormonal function is restored to optimal levels.
Other imbalances that might lead to stress, early aging, or bad skin are easily eliminated, leaving you only to create balance inside through inner peace.
